2015 Ford Expedition Refreshed
The Ford Expedition, the only full-sized, truck-based, body-on-frame SUV left in Ford's lineup, is getting a refresh for it's 2015 model year. Arriving at dealerships in September, this big SUV is getting a new look, a bunch of new technology and a new engine. Crossovers and small SUVs are super hot right now, but this big SUV still has fans, in places where big trucks are still appreciated, like in Texas and in Saudi Arabia. More than one in five Ford Expeditions sold in the U.S. are in Texas. About 85 percent of those sold outside of the U.S. are to customers in Saudi Arabia. The Ford Expedition attracts customers who need capability from their SUV. The ability to spend a lot of money on fuel doesn't hurt either. The Expedition targets "more affluent customers who won’t compromise -- they want space performance, comfort and capability all in one impressive package," said Keith Wilson, the vehicle’s marketing manager, in an announcement. 2015 Ford Expedition
It is increasingly odd to encounter this type of vehicle on the road these days while gasoline prices are flirting with $1.50 per litre, but Ford put a lot of energy into this big truck to make it both more economical and luxurious. Ford recently revealed photos of the new 2015 expedition, but if you're like us, you're probably disappointed that Ford did not do much when it came to the exterior of the F-150. So little, that you might not even notice that it's a new model. The 2015 Expedition, on sale later this year, now hides under it's hood Ford's very popular 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine. This engine, with it's direct injection and twin turbochargers, is more powerful and efficient than the 5.4-litre V8 it replaces, while at the same time being more fuel efficient. It also provides more torque at low revs. More

Ford seeks trademark for Ecobeast
In a peek behind the curtain of what may be to come from Ford, we have learned that the Ford Motor Co. has filed to register the term "Ecobeast" as a trademark. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office website, the automaker filed the second of two applications on December 22, 2014. The most recent application specifies that the mark is to be used for auto engines and automobiles. An earlier application, filed on February 26, is so that the term can be used with automobile-related decals, graphics and bumper stickers. Ford, the second largest U.S. automaker has been repeatedly praised for it's successful series of Ecoboost gasoline engines. The 1-litre Ecoboost engine has won numerous awards throughout recent years, including Engine of the Year. While automakers file trademarks left and right, sometimes they are never used. Sometimes they are merely registered to keep others from getting their hands on them. It probably would not be good for Ford if, say, GM started using the Ecobeast name. In this case, the Ecobeast trademark will likely be put to good use. More

Ford Develops Black Box For Police Cars
Most modern cars now come equipped with a black box. These black boxes, or data event recorders serve double duty. They tell manufacturers about the performance of their vehicles, and they supply critical information to investigators about the cause of a crash. One can no longer claim to have been driving the speed limit or to have been wearing a seatbelt when a crash happens, the vehicle's black box knows the truth. These boxes are helping to improve vehicle and driver safety, but there are still some concerns as to who actually owns the information generated and whether or not it should be shared with insurance companies. Even police officers are not free from the reach of big brother. Ford has developed a black box intended for police cars, like a traffic cop for police. This system will monitor the driving behaviour of police officers behind the wheel. In this case, instead of the information being recovered only after an accident such as in an airplane, the technology used streams the data in real time. More
